- You will modify and repair existing pipefitting installations according to provided specifications or instructions.
- You will determine the extent of repairs required for piping systems or equipment.
- You will calculate pipe, joint, or valve sizes needed to support pressures of systems.
- You will inspect and test systems for damage, leaks, and blockages in lines, expansion joints, valves and traps.

- This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is the ability to do the work of a Pipefitter without more than normal supervision performing common tasks including**:(1) Installing, modifying, and repairing new and existing high-pressure piping systems and equipment such as, steam-heating, hydraulic systems, flash and expansion tanks, condensate, vacuum systems, radiators and circulating pumps; (2) Working from building plans, blueprints, and sketches to plan and lay out the routing, placement, pitch, elevation, pressure reduction, expansion and operation of various piping systems and equipment; and (3) Independently selecting tools and testing equipment to use for building, repairing, troubleshooting, or modernizing the following systems: steam and condensate distribution systems, hydrant and fire mains, water distribution systems, heating and control units, and plumbing systems.**

**NOTE: This experience must be fully and clearly supported in your resume.- Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). PHYSICAL EFFORT
Incumbent makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, and platforms, and where the systems and equipment worked on are in hard-to-reach places. The work involves standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May handle, lift, carry, and set up parts and equipment that weigh up to 50 pounds. Occasionally, may lift and carry items that weigh over 50 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS
The work is done inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy. May be required to make installations and repairs in areas where bad smelling fumes are present. There is frequent exposure to the possibility of uncomfortable heat conditions. The work may involve exposure to
the possibility of strains, cuts, scrapes, bruises, burns, and infections. May occasionally be exposed to the possibility of broken bones.

This position is being recruited at the full performance level.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
