**GENERAL SUMMARY**: The Cardiology Clinical Associate is a vital member of our healthcare team, performing a wide range of clinical and administrative tasks to support patient care and departmental efficiency. This role requires a balance of clinical skills, administrative acumen, and a strong commitment to patient service. The Cardiology Clinical Associate works under the supervision of physicians/providers.

These duties are to be performed in a highly confidential manner, in accordance with the mission, values and behaviors of Insight Hospital and Medical Center. Employees are further expected to provide a high quality of care, service, and kindness toward all patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and guests.

**DESCRIPTION**:
**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Prepares patients for their examination with assigned physician/provider pursuant to established protocol.
- Performs other related duties aimed at facilitating efficient medical care as directed by the physician/provider.
- Coordinate daily patient calls for the cardiology clinic.
- Maintain an accurate record of the various trackers maintained in the cardiology clinic.
- Facilitate communication and documentation flow, including faxing schedules, managing cancellations, and maintaining medical records.
- Performs EKGs as directed by physician/provider according to CV lab protocol.
- Maintains appropriate inventory levels of supplies and medications, and further ensures that all outdated supplies and medications are removed from inventory.
- Assists in maintaining patient medical record by completing all required documentation and forms and ensures all diagnostic reports are present.
- Administers injections per physician/provider order, ensuring all patient rights are maintained, including appropriate documentation.
- Schedules patient appointments pursuant to physician/provider protocol.
- Assists in ensuring that all billing encounter forms are accurate and consist of all services provided.
- Participates in Quality Improvement activities as directed.
- Participates in continuing education programs and all assigned meetings.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

**JOB SPECIFICATIONS**:
**Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:
**Knowledge**:

- High School Diploma required.
- Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Illinois required.
- Licensed Practical Nurse preferred.
- B.L.S. or CPR Required.

**Skills**:

- EKG Validation during orientation for Telemetry, ICU, CCU, ED, SDS.

**Abilities**:

- Ability to quickly recognize changes in condition and needs of patients.
- Knowledge of patients’ growth and development needs.
- Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in carrying out work duties.
