**Description**:
Under the supervision of assigned administrator, coordinate recruitment, identification, training and services for qualified migrant students and families; perform liaison duties among staff, community resources and migrant parents; refer migrant families to local agencies or services as appropriate; compile and maintain accurate program data; and prepare reports.

**Examples of Duties**:

- ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Perform school and community-based recruitment of migrant students and families who fulfill federal criteria for eligibility in the Region I Migrant Education Program (MEP)
- Perform liaison duties among schools, local agencies, migrant students and families
- Conduct home visits and communicate with migrant families to recruit eligible families, acquire information and discuss school and health-related matters that may impact student progress
- Provide information and materials to migrant families to assist them in utilizing community services and resources, and refer migrant families to local agencies or school services as appropriate
- Identify academic intervention services for migrant students found "at risk" from preschool to OSY population; actively link migrant students and families to preschools, tutoring, after-school clubs, homework clubs, summer schools, Saturday schools, evening schools, credit accrual sessions, job training
- Conduct mandated meetings and promote and coordinate migrant parent education, program activities, including arranging training schedule, speakers, meeting sites and presentations
- Facilitate migrant family participation in various activities that result in family empowerment and advocacy
- Ensure that equity of opportunity and access to programs and services are attainable by all migrant students and families
- Assist formulating educational goals and objectives for migrant students
- Represent the District at a variety of meetings and participate in workshops and conferences as directed
- Perform a battery of audit and profiling processes comprising the assessment of all students from preschool to Out of School Youth (OSY), to twenty-two year-olds
- Compile, maintain, and audit program data and prepare reports, such as Certificates of Enrollment

- Communication and outreach strategies and protocols, including public speaking techniques
- ABILITY TO:

- Pursue all pertinent goals and objectives detailed in the District Service Agreement (DSA)
- Perform liaison duties among staff, community resources, agencies and parents
- Plan, organize and implement parent education and involvement activities and programs
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Utilize technology and a variety of media to leverage District outreach strategies and communicate efficiently
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy to ensure a harmonious and environment and productive working relationships- Analyze situations accurately and adopt effective course of action
- Meet schedules and time lines
- Prepare and present oral presentations using a variety of media and to varied audiences
- Prepare and maintain accurate and timely records and reports
- Be flexible to perform work within changing priorities and flexible schedule, including nights and weekends
- Work independently with little direction
- Operate a computer and a variety of office and classroom multi-media equipment
- Perform a variety of clerical duties

**Minimum Qualifications**:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and three years of experience working in community service programs or related field

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California driver's license and safe driving record
Incumbent will be involved in field work which requires travel in personal vehicle to various sites
Speak, read and write in a designated second language
Region I MEP Recruiters Certificate or obtain certification within 12 months of employment in this classification

Positions in the job classification typically work 40 hours/week while school is in session.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION: The duration of the eligibility list is 6 months unless extended by the Executive Director of Classified Human Resources and the Personnel Commission.
