Patuxent Nursery seeking a Green Goods Buyer in our Tree and Shrub department. We are looking for buyers with specialties in one or more of the following departments: trees and shrubs, perennials. This position is responsible for planning, procurement, & assuring the availability of green goods for our retail and online sales.

**Responsibilities**
- Create purchasing plans for annuals and seasonal products according to the pre-determined strategy.
- Execute purchasing plans to include: product selection, product quantity and stock levels, retail pricing, delivery timetables, and warehouse considerations.
- Assist in the strategy and plans for seasonal products.
- Aid in developing production plans for the growing and finishing of products.
- Assist in tag purchasing for the growing facility.
- Provide internal and external customers with the highest quality plant material by incorporating customer feedback, market trends, and historical analysis.
- Develop the yearly plant purchasing plan for the upcoming season, make adjustments, and partner with Division Manager and Nursery Manager to establish pricing.
- Continually develop a network of potential vendors and suppliers. Maintain strong relationships and set expectations with current vendors and suppliers. Some overnight travel to growers is required.

**Qualifications**
- 3+ years of experience as a green goods buyer or sales representative for a grower.
- Strong horticulture knowledge gained from a degree in horticulture, industry certifications, and hands-on-experience
- Ability to negotiate pricing and logistics
- Aggressive self-starter
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Willing to work five days a week with a flexible schedule of days, evenings, weekends.
- Able to stand for extended periods
- Able to lift to 50 lbs

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
