Temporary Health Information Technician

Under the direct supervision of the Associate Director of Health Information Management Services, performs a variety of data entry, analysis and clerical processing tasks associated with student immunization compliance, and maintenance of the medical records of Northwestern University’ students. Scans completed Student Immunization Form and other health information into the Electronic Medical Record system according to established procedures and productivity standards.

**Qualifications Required**:

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One year experience providing clerical support and use of a computer workstation is highly recommended.
- Good customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, medical personnel, and staff via phone, writing and face-to face interaction.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.

- MET Medical Terminology. Possesses working knowledge of medical research terminology.
- MIC Microsoft Office. Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Some college with coursework in a Health Information Technology curriculum or other computer-related discipline that includes exposure to working with database software;
- At least 2-3 years of progressively more responsible clerical experience with health information;
- Previous experience in a healthcare environment, preferably in an ambulatory setting;
- Knowledge of medical terminology;
- Previous experience working with electronic medical records and healthcare information systems;
- Customer service experience in a healthcare environment sufficient to explain policies and services.

**Software Required**:
MS Office suite 2013 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
