**Essential Duties**
- Manages all programs and activities to support and encourage environmental compliance.
- Coordinates and manages unit-wide administrative functions to include development and implementation of management and business strategies.
- Manages, trains, and provides regular performance feedback and evaluation to staff; develops and implements job expectations and objectives.
- Provides task assignments to staff; provides clear directions and there is a two-way dialogue; encourages staff and monitors work in progress.
- Ensures staff have the tools to deliver services.; maintains two-way dialogue; encourages staff and monitors work in progress.
- Applies established goals operationally into implementation of tactics. Manages budgets and plans in daily operation.
- Recommends policies and procedures to achieve environmental compliance with University policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations.
- Manages environmental compliance recordkeeping and documentation.
- May be involved in hazardous waste management recordkeeping activities.
- Serves as technical resource and reviews committee activities for the University Environmental Affairs and Sustainability Practices.
- Manages day-to-day activities of environmental compliance efforts on all campuses.
- Oversees interactions with environmental regulatory inspectors and communicates outcome to leadership.
- Conducts internal environmental inspections and audits to identify deficiencies.
- Develops and coordinates timely environmental corrective and preventive actions.
- Reviews plans to ensure that new university facilities and buildings include components needed to achieve environmental compliance.
- Maintains appropriate documentation and recordkeeping to satisfy environmental regulations.
- Advises faculty, staff and students on proper environmental management techniques and provides recommendations for appropriate action upon request.
- Ensures educational or training sessions are held for faculty, staff and students regarding environmental compliance programs, including air quality, dust control, asbestos management and others.
- Advises leadership of the status of ongoing environmental compliance activities and makes recommendations for appropriate actions.
- Collaborates with environmental compliance vendors to facilitate efficient, cost effective and timely compliance services.
- Manages wastewater testing activities or results as needed.
- Provides compliance support for drinking water supply systems at remote ASU locations.
- Serves on the ASU environmental response team.
- Serves as designated emergency response representative for environmental, chemical and gas releases as part of 24/7 emergency response service.
- Serves as a representative of the University at state, regional and national organizations, boards, councils and committees as assigned.
- Stays abreast of discipline specific and pending regulatory and legislative changes through reference sources.
- Prepares regulatory compliance reports that fairly and objectively detail the inspection results and recommended actions.
- Identifies potential problem areas which require continued priority attention in order to prevent situations from recurring.
- Reviews and incorporates best practices as appropriate.
- Develops strategic objectives in collaboration with other unit leaders.

**Desired Qualifications**
- Experience with managing and performing environmental compliance inspections.
- Experience managing environmental permits and modifications.
- Experience with Title V air emissions programs and permits.
- Experience in a higher education setting.

**Working Environment**
- Required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
- Works in highly dangerous areas with uncontained or spilled hazardous materials
