International Affairs Regional Advisor

**Duties**:

**Typical work assignments include**:
- Support the development and implementation of international policy and initiatives in support of the CISA and DHS missions and international policy objectives.
- Review materials for CISA and DHS leadership for alignment to DHS and CISA international priorities.
- Represent CISA in a variety of engagements, understands CISA's priorities, and communicates the CISA mission and operational requirements and activities effectively to stakeholders.
- Help identify and manage opportunities to pursue CISA's international agenda, whether through information exchanges, technical research and development, or operational activities with other DHS components, interagency counterparts and foreign interlocutors.

- You must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance suitable for Federal employment as determined by a background investigation. This may include a credit check, a review of financial issues, as well as certain criminal offenses and illegal use or possession of drugs.
- One-year probationary period may be required.
- This position may be designated as essential personnel. Essential personnel must be able to serve during continuity of operation events without regard to declarations of liberal leave or government closures due to weather, protests, and acts of terrorism or lack of funding. Failure to report for or remain in this position may result in disciplinary or adverse action in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations (5 U.S.C. 7501-7533 and 5 CFR Part 752, as applicable).

**To be considered mínimally qualified for this position, applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirements **AND** Minimum Qualification requirements as listed below.**
**BASIC REQUIREMENTS**:
**A.** **Degree**: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) or equivalent, or a combination of courses totaling at least 24 semester hours in international law and international relations, political science, economics, history, sociology, geography, social or cultural anthropology, law, statistics, or in the humanities; or 12 semester hours in one of the above disciplines and 12 semester hours in statistics/quantitative methods. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
- OR
- **B. Combination of education and experience**: Education equivalent to a major, or a combination of related courses totaling at least 24 semester hours, in one or more of the social sciences, or in the humanities, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
- OR
- **C.** **Experience**:Four years of appropriate experience in one or more of the fields listed above in work associated with international organizations, problems, or other aspects of foreign affairs.
- **AND**
**IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS ABOVE, YOU MUST ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
**You qualify for the GS-09 grade level, if you have**:
**EXPERIENCE**:At least one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level (or equivalent) performing **ALL** the following duties:
- Assisting in the research and analysis in support of an organization's international initiatives and international policy development; **AND**
- Tracking administrative/operational tasks related to international engagements and communicating updates with internal and external stakeholders.
**OR**
**EDUCATION**:
**A.** Master's or equivalent graduate degree from an accredited institution that included major study in a related field of study such as international law and international relations, political science, economics, history, sociology, geography, social or cultural anthropology, law, statistics, or in the humanities. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts).
- OR
- **B.** Two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree from an accredited institution that included major study in the field of study described in statement "A" above.
- OR
- **C. **LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) or J.D. (Juris Doctor) degree, if related
