We are looking for an experienced veterinary technician who is compassionate, love pets and cares to give an excellent customer service. The veterinary technician is the doctor’s primary support person in medicine and surgery. They begin the examination procedure and continue to assist the doctor throughout the examination, diagnosis and treatment/surgery phases. They have a very significant role in communicating with clients about their pets.

**Experience**:

- Minimum 2 year experience as veterinary technician.

**General Requirements**:

- Empathetic, loving and genuinely enjoys working with animals and is able to deal with them even when they are stressed, ill or in pain.
- Can stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.
- Is able to work effectively with doctors and follow directions.
- Is experienced in the teamwork approach and works well with all hospital staff members.
- Has excellent client communication skills and professional attitude.
- Physical Effort: Work requires lifting and carrying animals (will be assisted by other staff members in lifting animals over 40 lbs). Walks or stands for extended periods of time; frequently works in a bent position.
- Working conditions: May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises and animal stools. May be exposed to bites, scratches and contagious diseases.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provides compassionate care to patients.
- Maintains positive, cooperative relationships with other employees.
- Performs all duties in accordance with hospital medical policies and procedures.
- Prepares and maintains the exam rooms and surgery/treatment areas.
- Can draw blood and place catheter. Has vaccination and medication knowledge. Understands usage and dosage for prescription drugs and can explain them to the clients.
- Assists the doctor in medical and surgical procedures; prepares patients for anesthesia and surgery; assists the doctor in administering/monitoring anesthesia; monitors patients during surgery and recovery; administers fluids, etc.
- Assists in restraining pets when necessary. (we work with companion animals: cats and dogs)
- Performs clinical laboratory procedures such as stool flotation exams, heartworm tests, skin scrapings, urinalysis, and fungal cultures.
- Takes radiographs and perform EKGs.
- Performs dental cleaning.
- Admits and discharges patients; counsels clients on various aspects of animal care; reinforces the proper care and procedures that should be followed at home.
- Properly cleans all surgical materials after they are used; keeps the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery.
- Assists other staff members as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

**Salary**: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour

**Experience**:

- Veterinary experience: 2 year (required)
- LVT Preferred

Pay: $14.00 - $21.00 per hour
