This position offers an outstanding compensation package:

- Base Salary: $49,000 - $63,000, paid biweekly.

**About SeqCoast Genomics**:
SeqCoast is an expert-guided genomics center with deep expertise in genome sequencing and bioinformatics services. We specialize in working with small genomes, such as those derived from microbial isolates, microbiomes and other microbial communities, viruses, viral vectors. We can tackle both model organisms (e.g., _E. coli_, _S. cerevisiae_, _D. melanogaster_, _C. elegans_) and non-model organisms (e.g., _Mycobacterium_, environmental fungi, amoebae, algae). SeqCoast uses both short read (Illumina) and long read (Nanopore) sequencing platforms. We emphasize industry-leading turnaround time and a personal focus on the research needs of our customers.

Scientists across the spectrum of R&D biosciences use SeqCoast services, ranging from basic and applied research through product development, production, and monitoring, including:

- Health (epidemiological surveillance, antibiotic resistance)
- Agriculture (soil health, biofertilizer, biodiversity)
- Environment (wastewater monitoring, marine microbiomes)
- Applied microbiology (fermentation, drug discovery, diagnostics)

Our customers work in academia, government, not-for-profit research institutes, biotech startups, and companies listed on public stock exchanges.

**Location**:
This position is based at the SeqCoast laboratory at 25 New Hampshire Ave. in the Seacoast Region of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Employees will reside within 45 miles of our laboratory.

The Genomic Sequencing Technician will be:

**Responsibilities**:
1. **Ensure compliance **with the Company’s quality control (QC)on incoming samples to include Qubit, qPCR, and TapeStation measurements.

2. **Identify and communicate **improvements to procedures to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

3. **Demonstrate strong and consistent engagement **with the team to producehigh-throughput Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).

4. **Design and construct NGS libraries** based on the Company’s procedures for the assigned pipeline to support consistent production of viable sequencing runs and to minimize risk of breakage and rework. Seek to master the design and construction of NGS libraries so as to identify enhancements to the Company’s procedures and to become a qualified trainer of new team members.

5. **Develop and maintain superior skills in operation **of the Company’s NGS platforms (including Illumina and Oxford Nanopore), with ongoing training by the vendors and the SeqCoast team. Seek to become a qualified trainer of new team members.

6. **Prepare basic** **bioinformatic analysis and QC** of sequencing data using the Company’s standard algorithms and procedures. Seek to master the procedures and to identify improvements which drive efficiency and effectiveness of these services.

7. **Prepare** **accurate** sample tracking logs from receipt to customer data distribution.

8. **Maintain** service delivery facilities - cleaning, stock taking, and routine equipment maintenance, aliquoting and preparation of reagents and medium.

9. **Execute proper processes and procedures** are adhered to by recording accurate data outlined in accordance with SOPs.

10. **Serve as a key interface** between laboratory operations and customers regarding sample issues and/or project goals.

11. **Ongoing professional development of self, **which includes participation in seminars, conferences, and industry associations.

12. **Anything else that the Team needs** - it’s a startup so employees must be flexible and willing to provide operational support as needed.

**Qualifications**:
1. B.S. or M.S. in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field.
