**Duties**:
**As a Communications Specialist (TraCSS Communications Specialist**)**, you will perform the following duties**:

- Serve as Communications Specialist for Traffic Coordination System for Space (TraCSS) in the Office of Space Commerce (OSC) and works closely with the TraCSS Program Manager, TraCSS Branch Leads and OSC staff to effectively communicate TraCSS goals and objectives, status, and operational information to TraCSS stakeholders. Design and maintain products in support of office priorities including press releases, brochures, web content, social media, and major reports.
- Establish and maintain mutual communications between the organization and industry, universities, other government agencies and the public.
- Advise management on planning and implementation of interaction with key officials in the public and private sectors through special functions, commemorative events, and other activities.
- Assist in the production of technical publications, reports, brochures, periodicals, speeches, and audio-visual productions intended for a variety of audiences, including influential and decision-making organizations in the public and private sectors; proofreads and edits. Knowledge of and experience with the space sector that's sufficient for proper use of terminology and conveying basic principles in Communications.

This position will be filled under the DOC Alternative Personnel System (CAPS). This system replaced the Federal GS pay plan and structure. Under CAPS, positions are classified by career, pay plan, and pay band.

**The ZA-4 is equivalent to the GS-13/14.**

**Qualifications**:
**SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE**:Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

**To qualify at the ZA-4 (GS-13/14) grade level**:
Applicants must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the ZA-3 (GS-12) in the Federal service. Specialized experience MUST include all of the following:

- Assisting in the development of strategic communications plans and materials and utilizing appropriate communications technologies and mechanisms to help deliver products and services related to space.
- Participating in the delivery of tactical communications to all stakeholders, both internal and external to the organization and;
- Coordinating the development of press releases, newsletters, brochures, website content, search engine optimization, and social media platforms.
- Developing strategic communications plans and materials and utilizing appropriate communications technologies and mechanisms to deliver products and services_._

**Education**:
There is no education requirement/substitution for this position.
