Mayhew is looking for a Buyer/Planner for our Ormond Beach, Florida location.

The Buyer/Planner is responsible for purchasing raw materials, components, and services to meet the production and customer requirements. This role evaluates and analyzes supplier quotes, negotiates prices, maintains relationships with vendors, and ensures orders are delivered on time. Ultimately, an exceptional Production Planner/Buyer should demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills to ensure the production operations run smoothly. A Buyer/Planner is a detailed-oriented individual that can organize production requirements according to demand and quality standards. A Buyer/Planner must be able to create, modify, and manage daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Coordinate with Customer Service and Sales personnel to determine customer requirements.
- Evaluate customer forecasts and purchase orders to create suitable production schedules.
- Address customer issues when they arise aiming for minimum schedule disruption.
- Communicate with customer service regarding production and shipment of purchase orders.
- Create and issue work orders with quantities defined by MRP system to ensure that enough purchased material is on order to satisfy any created work orders.
- Organize and purchase MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Operations) materials based on requests from engineering, management, etc.
- Collaborate with other department managers to ensure timely integration of other production operations between departments.
- Estimating the amount of material and parts required for production of customer purchase orders.
- Make changes as needed to production schedules to ensure customer orders are shipped in a timely manner.
- Compiling status and forecast reports and submitting to management on a weekly basis.
- Promptly informing relevant departments of changes to current production schedules.
- Reviews bid proposals and negotiates contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
- Approves vendor invoices for payment.
- Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
- Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
- Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
- Manage/Supervise the scheduling assistant.

**Qualifications**:

- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent, two to four years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Commitment to excellence and high standards
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Acute attention to detail
- Proficient on Microsoft Word, Excel.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
- Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Creative, flexible, and innovative team player

**Working Environment**
- Good working conditions. Exposure to cutting and lubricating oils or solvents.
- Contact with metal materials or metal chips, miscellaneous tooling or equipment.
- Moderately loud equipment.
- Nothing hazardous if properly handled.
