**Responsibilities**:
Join UCLA Health Sciences Development as Director of Development for our top-ranked Neurosurgery unit where you help raise funds for clinicians consistently voted among “Super Doctors” and many of the department’s research scientists that are recognized leaders in the clinical neurosciences and neurobiology. Our Neurosurgery faculty are committed to providing the most comprehensive patient care through the most innovative clinical programs. You will be part of a team committed to turning great aspiration into great outcomes. You will grow your fundraising skills as you increase support for the Neurosurgery department by creating strategies to deepen our connections with donors and keep vital research and key initiatives in motion. You will personally cultivate, solicit and steward major gift donors, manage a portfolio of major gift prospects, as well as develop annual operating plans and evaluate progress to goals. Salary & Compensation: *UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. - Minimum of three years Fundraising experience or equivalent experience in marketing, sales or related field. (required)
- Experience working in a highly matrixed organization, with a successful track record of building a culture of philanthropy and strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. (required)
- Strong working knowledge of the principles and practices of grateful patient and major giving fundraising, preferably in higher education. (required)
- Proven track record in development or comparable program planning and management with a strong understanding of major gift fundraising preferably in an academic medical school setting. (required)
- Skill in developing and implementing successful strategies for identification, cultivation and solicitation of individuals, corporations, and foundations. (required)
- Outstanding organizational skills and proficiency in prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely manner and on deadline. (required)
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to interact effectively with donors, volunteers, academic leaders, faculty, staff. (required)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. (required)
- Experience participating in strategic planning. (required)
- Self-starter who works well independently while, at the same time works well collectively and collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals. (required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations:

- Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
