- Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Coordinator of Building Services (Visitor Services/Security Specialist) for the Zimmerli Art Museum.The primary responsibilities of this position are the safety and security of the facility and collections, and overseeing visitor services. This position supports the museum by developing various policies and protocols for reception desk and gallery attendants covering operating hours, galleries, tours, special events and collaborates with staff across the museum to develop and implement new strategies for visitor engagement. Reception and gallery attendants are the first point of contact for visitors and provide information about the museum, the exhibitions, education, and assistance to guests throughout their visit.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:

- Responsible for sharing in the opening and closing of the museum during regular hours, including weekends and after-hours for special events and programs.
- Responsible for the successful daily operations of the museum experience, including interaction with the campus community and general public.
- Supervises museum security. Hires, trains, and schedules student gallery attendants (includes reception desk** **personnel).
- Acts as liaison to Campus Security.
- Develops and implements student gallery attendant training programs and security policy.
- Develops and monitors yearly budgets.
- Manages and maintains security alarms and camera systems and trains security operations staff on opening/closing Museum.
- Advocates for visitors with diverse interests, abilities, and needs.

- One (1) year museum security experience, 2-year customer service experience and 1-year supervisory experience
- First Aid certifications.
- Demonstrated social and cultural competency and commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion.
- High-performing and motivated leadership
- Good management skills
- Experience building and managing a team in a customer-service environment.
- Knowledge of museum security protocols
- Superior language skills in English with a strong preference for additional capabilities in Spanish

**Equipment Utilized**

**Physical Demands and Work Environment**
- Must be able to lift up to 30-50 lbs., walk and stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.
- Must have or be willing to obtain within six months of employment a valid CPR certification.
- Mandatory overtime as needed.
