- Mex with (7) restaurant locations in Houston, TX and Fat Rosie's Taco & Tequila Bar with (5) restaurant locations in Chicago, IL.

We are seeking a temp for a 3 month assignment and possibility to hire a detail-oriented Restaurant Accountant to join our team.

The Restaurant Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accounting records for several restaurants. This position has primary responsibility for the general ledger, accounts payable, bank reconciliations, and income statements for all restaurants they manage. This individual will possess excellent communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment. The Restaurant Accountant will demonstrate strong attention to detail and will be highly organized, possessing the ability to adhere to corporate policies and procedures concerning cash handling, invoice approval, and overall integrity of the company’s financial position. They will establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with many individuals within the Restaurant Support Office as well as directly in the restaurants.

**ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Performs month-end close tasks, including posting and adjusting journal entries/accruals, preparing assigned account reconciliations, and review of general ledger accounts.
- Prepares sales tax filings for assigned restaurants.
- Performs weekly Accounts Payable audits, ensuring accurate recording of transactions.
- Maintains fixed asset ledger data for assigned restaurants, including input of additions and disposals accurately and timely.
- Performs cash paid-out audits and initiates reclassifications to ensure accurate recording.
- Reviews and verifies house cash banks activity and balances.
- Liaises with landlords; performs rent calculations and ensures timely payment.
- Liaises with field management, providing support and research as required.
- Assists Controller an the accounting office with special projects as required.

Requirements and Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred or Associate’s and equivalent experience
- Three or more years of accounting experience
- Working knowledge of general ledger systems
- Accounting software knowledge of SAGE or INTACT software preferred
- Working knowledge of restaurant operations preferred or knowledge of TOAST (POS) or Extra Chef systems
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and Microsoft Outlook
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and be self-motivated
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Excellent team player

Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Experience level:

- 3 years

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
