Overview:
The campus Facility Manager is responsible for the overall operation of a campus facility and will supervise the work of custodial employees engaged in performing routine maintenance, including: repairs, cleaning, minor alterations, and relocating material, supplies, and records. Ability to perform cleaning, minor electric plumbing, and handyman work. Schedules for routine and special events. Keeps the Director up to date regarding work at the site.

**Responsibilities**:
Assigns and supervises the work of staff engaged in performing cleaning, janitorial, custodial, handyman services, and routine maintenance tasks in the college’s facilities, to include, but not limited to the following:

- Makes regular periodic inspections of maintenance work, carpentry, electrical work, painting, plastering, plumbing and other related building maintenance projects to assure satisfactory performance of work assignments.
- Inspects work of the Housekeeping staff to make sure that they are carrying out their assignments to the best of their abilities.
- Makes regular inspections regarding health and life safety issues in the
- Supervises and reviews the work of subordinates engaged in grounds beautification and maintenance, including the removal of snow and rubbish.
- Supervises and reviews the work of subordinates engaged in the operation and maintenance of high or low pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment in the building heating plant.
- Supervises and reviews the work of subordinates and outside vendors engaged in the repair and operation of their various A/C equipment including a BMS systems.
- Has the knowledge and understanding to operate a BMS system.
- Reviews and signs off on all work tickets, after outside vendor has completed their work.
- Responsible for the requisitioning, storing, distributing and accounting for necessary building and grounds maintenance supplies and equipment.
- Reviews and evaluates requests for office and storage space allocations and makes recommendations to the Director of Facilities.
- Responsible for the attendance records of custodians and handymen on their staff.
- Prepares and submits written reports relating to assigned functions to the Director of Facilities.
- Obtains the Certificates of Fitness for the following: Maintenance of Interior Fire Alarm System, Fire Drill Conductor and Sprinkler/Standpipe.

Qualifications:
**Education/ Experience**
- Minimum a high school degree or a degree from an approved vocational/trade school.
- At least 5-7 years employment in the maintenance, repair of large buildings including exterior maintenance.
- At least 3 years in a management position.

**Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities**
- A thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of the building trades
- The ability to inspect a building, its equipment, grounds and to plan maintenance activities.
- The ability to plan, supervise and evaluate the work of others
- The ability to estimate building or grounds repair and renovation costs
- The ability to meet with and deal with Deans, faculty, students and staff tactfully.
- The ability to prepare and submit written reports.
