**Position Summary** Manages the day-to-day operation of the office under the directions of the Chairman. Under the direction and guidance of the Chairman of Department of Surgery will be responsible for the development, implementation and administration of the Medical Center's policies and procedures. Oversees and coordinates a variety of departmental academic and student programs, which include record keeping responsibilities under the direction of a department chair. Coordinate activities of residency program and professional staff, interface with the affiliate institutions, assist the Chairman in all areas and respond to the daily needs of the staff.

- Manages the daily activities of the department under the directions of the Chairman.
- Oversee all administrative departmental and residency issues.
- Coordinate resident orientation process.
- Prepare letters of recommendations for present and previous residents and medical students.
- Process loan, employment and residency verifications.
- Maintain personal files of residents and administrative staff.
- Process new hires/terminations, payroll authorizations for residents and other department administrative staff.
- Coordinate and distribute on call schedules.
- Process and maintain surgical staff and resident time sheets.
- Coordinate all financial matters related to department and residency including accounts payable and receivable.
- Coordinate all vacation time, off/sick time schedules for residents and full time faculty.
- Provides administrative support for chairman, program director, clerkship director and residents.
- Coordinate in scheduling speakers and distribute all Grand Round schedules and didactic conference schedule.
- Coordinate and track CME credits for all attendings.
- Coordinate and develop policies and procedures for the department and maintains all records concerning regulatory matters.
- Maintains files on staff and residents and executes house staff and residents contracts.
- Interact with other departments and affiliated centers.
- Assist staff regarding job-related concerns.
- Coordinate all financial matters related to department and residency including accounts payable and receivable.
- Executes program letter of agreement (PLA) between the program and each participating site.
- Administrator for program committees (residency committee, clinical competency committee, etc.)
- Assists with producing and distributing manuals/handbooks for residents, annual rotation schedule, resident on-call schedules and changes including entering and updating in New Innovations.
- Performs all other duties as assigned or requested.

**Formal Education and Job-Related** **Experience** This position requires a minimum formal education of High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years job-related experience.

**Salary**: $58,000.00 per year
