Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Operating Room Nurse to join our surgical team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of experience in the operating room setting, with proficiency in scrubbing and circulating roles, IV insertion, phlebotomy, and conscious sedation procedures. This role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare operating rooms for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are available and functioning properly.
  2. Scrub into surgical procedures and assist surgeons by passing instruments, sutures, and other supplies as needed.
  3. Circulate in the operating room, coordinating patient care, monitoring safety standards, and maintaining a sterile field throughout the procedure.
  4. Perform IV insertion and phlebotomy procedures with skill and precision, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  5. Administer conscious sedation to patients undergoing procedures, monitoring their response and vital signs throughout the sedation process.
  6. Assist with positioning and prepping patients for surgery, ensuring proper alignment and adherence to infection control protocols.
  7. Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and support staff, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  8. Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing education, support, and reassurance throughout the surgical experience.
  9. Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  10. Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure quality and safety standards are met.

Qualifications:

  1. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of [Insert State].
  2. Minimum of two years of operating room nursing experience required.
  3. Proficiency in scrubbing and circulating roles, with knowledge of surgical instrumentation and procedures.
  4. Experience with IV insertion, phlebotomy, and conscious sedation techniques.
  5. BLS and ACLS certifications required; CNOR certification preferred.
  6. Excellent clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, with a focus on patient-centered care.
  8. Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritize effectively in a dynamic surgical environment.
  9. Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  10. Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred.
