**Patron Services Library Aide**

**Overview**:
As our Library Aide, you will be compensated at a rate of $16.00 per hour. The role of Library Aide is a part-time position requiring 15 hours per week, covering Mondays and Thursdays from 9am-2pm, and Tuesdays 4pm-9pm. Your duties involve diligently shelving, inspecting, and managing library materials each day to support patrons and colleagues effectively.

**What You’ll Do Every Day**:

- Organize and shelve books accurately according to the library's classification system, ensuring a neat and orderly appearance for easy access by patrons.
- Maintain shelf cleanliness to improve the browsing experience for patrons.
- Lift and move heavy boxes of books and materials while standing for extended periods during shelving tasks.
- Manage outdoor book return bins, inspect incoming library materials for damage or missing pieces, and organize checked-in materials for shelving.
- Utilize automated materials handler for processing library materials.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with both library staff and patrons.
- Assist patrons with inquiries, guide them to appropriate resources, and handle materials on hold.
- Work independently and cooperatively with colleagues to achieve common goals and provide excellent service to patrons.

**Qualifications**:

- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Must pass a skills screening test organizing a cart of materials; instructions will be given in person
- A friendly, outgoing attitude and genuine interest in helping others
