**ABOUT THE **MONTGOMERY COUNTY **DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION** (MDDOT**)**:

**ABOUT THE **DIVISION OF TRANSIT SERVICES**:
The **Division of Transit Services** coordinates transit services in Montgomery County. Transit accomplishes an essential mobility mission of the County, connecting people, communities, workplaces, educational institutions, recreational opportunities, and many other essential destinations. The Division plans, schedules, and manages the County's Ride On bus system consisting of County-owned and operated buses. The Ride On system is designed to complement the service provided by the other transit providers in the County and provides almost 30 million trips per year.

**WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING**:
Transit Services seeks a highly skilled and experienced Program Specialist I (Marketing Communications Specialist). The employee will utilize **professional writing and editing skills** to draft official communications, internal and external; format operational bus timetables to present to the public utilizing Trapeze-generated data imported into Microsoft Office, InDesign publishing software, and Adobe products; proof and edit redesign of operational timetables, and present specialized geographic and route data clearly for the public.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:

- Manage design, distribution, display, and storage of Ride On marketing materials; including work with design, production, and distribution contractors.
- Provide high-level administrative support to managers and the public utilizing strong time management skills, oral skills, and writing skills
- Monitor and report in-field observations of advertising in licensed bus stop shelter ad boxes, bus sides, and bikeshare stations.
- Staff multiple customer service Transit Services E-Mail accounts.
- Serve as a 311 liaison and champion, handling Service Requests (SRs) daily by resolving issues and closing the SRs; ensure service level agreement (SLA) requirements of customer relationship management (CRM) support are maintained through consistent customer-focused responses to service requests.
- Update the official website, including preparation of PDF files, web documents, images, photographs, and graphics, and formatting and editing HTML files using the County content management system (CMS).

This position requires the ability to attend meetings or perform work at locations outside the office.

**Minimum Qualifications**

**Education**: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.

**Experience**: One (1) year of professional experience in marketing, marketing communications, public relations, or a closely related field directly related to the assignment of the position.

**Equivalency**: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

**Preferred Criteria**

Preference for interviews will be given to applicants with experience in the following:

- Experience using social media software in government, non-profit, or commercial organizations, including social media management tools like Measured Voice and Hootsuite. The role includes knowledge and use of social media platforms (X/Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Threads, etc.) and social media management tools in a professional environment to engage customers, employees, the public, etc., in meaningful dialogue to increase followers, engagements, customer satisfaction, ridership, brand awareness, and lower customer complaints.
