As a Biological/Physical Scientist, GS-0401/1301-13, your typical work assignments may include:

- Identifying, defining, and selecting specific problems for study; formulating hypotheses and
developing a plan.
- Serving as lead coordinator for agency efforts to counter WMD threats and incidents.
- Generating support and cooperation from biological and scientific professionals for doctrine
designed to prevent WMD terrorism.
- Providing significant and innovative recommendations for advancing programs and/research and scientific methods.

**Qualifications**:
**Basic Requirements 1301 Series**:
1. Completion of all requirements for a bachelor's degree in General Physical Science from an
- accredited college or university; or a degree in a related field such as engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials and electronics. OR
- 2. Combination of education and experience - education equivalent to one of the majors shown in 1.
- above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

**Specialized Experience**:
You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:

- Managing and guiding the development of strategies and plans, with emphasis on the biological and scientific aspects.
- Providing technical assistance and expert advice to interdisciplinary or non-expert stakeholders such as Federal, State, Local, Tribal, and/or Territorial stakeholders to inform strategies and plans.
