**ABOUT THIS POSITION**:
The City Clerk Department is responsible for upholding public trust, protecting local democracy, and providing access to matters of public interest. They do so by managing elections and annexations, preparing council agendas and meeting notices, maintaining public records, and processing liquor and regulated business licenses.
The City Clerk Business License Service Clerk responsibilities include:
- Interpreting complex laws pertaining to license regulations and communicating this information to applicants and stakeholders.
- Performing research to determine whether applicants meet the necessary requirements to obtain a license.
- Writing reports, managing multiple tasks at once and communicating extensively with customers in person in a front-counter customer service environment, over the phone and through E-mail and/or mail.
**IDEAL CANDIDATE**:
- Ability to communicate effectively in various setting to different audiences.
- Ability to learn and memorize policies and use interpersonal communication skills to provide information to external customers.
- Ability to manage workload and troubleshoot through issues using training and previous experiences.
- Ability to ensure a positive customer experience while working with a constant stream of customers at a pubic counter.
**SALARY**:
Pay Range: $18.60 - $35.08 per hour.
Hiring Range: $18.60 - $21.54 per hour.

- Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.
- Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**:
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Proficient in the Spanish language.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word and Excel.
- Experience using a database systems for research.
- Experience reading and communicating technical or legal information.
- Experience within the last five years of the following:
- Providing customer service at a front counter or with customers face to face.
- Basic accounting principles and/or cashiering.
- Proofreading or performing quality assurance checks.
