Maintenance Specialist

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Maintenance, this position performs preventive and corrective maintenance to the buildings, grounds, and mechanical equipment of the District. May also participate in remodeling or renovation projects and the installation of new equipment.

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2. Valid State of Wisconsin driver’s license with a good driving record. Employment is contingent upon District’s insurance carrier approving insurability due to past and future driving records.

3. Diesel engine experience desired.

4. Two years of experience in building maintenance or completion of related vocational or technical training.

5. Experience in metal fabrication with the ability to weld light gauge mild steel is preferred.

6. Previous employment record of being reliable, dependable, and punctual.

7. Ability to use common hand and power tools.

8. Ability to work as a team member.

9. Ability to communicate with building principals, staff, parents, and others.

10. Ability to troubleshoot problems with buildings, equipment, and machinery and plan and carry out the most effective methods of repair.

11. Ability to perform basic preventive maintenance on all HVAC equipment.

12. Experience and ability to perform preventive maintenance on fan shaft bearings and, sheaves.

13. Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time.

14. Ability to lift 50-pound weight unassisted from the floor to waist height repetitively.

15. Ability to lift 40-pound weight overhead, unassisted.

16. Ability to operate a tractor and other motorized equipment (lawn mowers, snow blowers).

17. Must be able to work at heights of approximately 30 feet when servicing scoreboards, nets, etc. Also work in confined spaces, elevated positions (scaffold, power lifts, ladders), and work outdoors in all seasons.

18. Must be mechanically inclined, with the ability to troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on small engines.

19. Ability to supervise and coordinate seasonal and part-time maintenance employees.

20. Ability to coordinate and complete a variety of projects simultaneously and work with mínimal supervision.

21. Ability to communicate with department staff and the community.

Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
