**Position Overview**

The Buyer will be responsible for maintaining and developing the profitable growth of non-ferrous accounts through effective daily procurement of quality scrap. This position is required to focus on developing and building customer/supplier relationships and negotiating prices and contracts that build, grow, and retain the supplier base. Must be knowledgeable of costs associated with the purchase of non-ferrous materials as well as the current market and sales to provide optimum pricing strategies.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Knowledge and understanding of costs associated with freight in; handling, processing of non-ferrous materials
- Supplier based diversification
- Expand existing customer supply base for increased market share across varied commodities while developing new supplier relationships for future profitable growth and expansion. Purchase scrap metal materials in accordance with current market conditions based upon pricing standards/models established by senior management.
- Monitor performance to closely follow forecasts, budgeted metrics and established monthly regional budgets
- Researches, analyzes, and forecasts current and future buying trends, markets, and products, with attention to specified target market
- Collaborates with multiple departments, managers, and other staff to confirm that orders are processed with accuracy and efficiency and that products are distributed properly.
- Enforce company safety rules inclusive of personal safety and environmental compliance. Ensure safe working conditions and practices are followed.
- Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations in order to purchase materials in compliance.
- Perform any other commercial or market related duties and responsibilities as directed and assigned.

**Requirements**:
**Job Requirements/Skills**
- Knowledge of testing and identifying metal alloys
- Superior customer service skills
- Ability to communicate with people at all levels, both orally and in writing
- Excellent mathematical and problem-solving skills
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience utilizing CRM platforms
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint)

**Education/Experience**
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Business is preferred
- 5+ years prior industry sales experience and/or 5-10 years prior experience as a metal buyer in the scrap industry

**Physical Requirements**
- Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at waist. May stand for sustained periods.
- Exposure to physical operations in scrap recycling facilities, including walking/climbing in active industrial yards with uneven surfaces in inclement weather
- Travel required, must be able to drive vehicle
- Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing a computer monitor; preparing/analyzing data/figures and have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned.
