Performs specimen processing and accessioning in the Central Processing area of the Main Lab. Main duties include computer data entry, telephone reception, transporting specimens and printing/delivering lab reports. Reviews lab reports and performs quality review and troubleshooting.

**Responsibilities**:
**Essential Job Functions**:

- LAB _Supports specimen processing by correcly accessioning samples, verifying the identity of specimens and evaluating acceptability. Accurately performs the pre-analytical specimen preparation and initial pre-processing. Accurately processes specimens for send-out according to appropriate procedures ensuring timely processing/dispatch. Prints and delivers/faxes lab reports to clients in a timely manner. Accurately prints collection batch and labels for phlebotomy collections. 35%
- Efficiently orders, receives, stocks and delivers lab supplies as appropriate. Picks-up and delivers all laboratory samples/specimens to the departments for testing as appropriate. Responds to tube system in a timely manner and appropriately maintains stock of carriers 35%
- Accurately performs computer data entry functions, to ensure orders are entered properly and are corrected as needed. Reviews lab requisitions and reports for legibility, completeness, and proper format. Correctly completes computer order verification, data entry, accurate filing and report printing process. Receives and processes calls to the department, provides lab results to clients, and ensures specimen issues are directed to the supervisor as needed for resolution. Prints and delivers/faxes lab reports in a timely manner. 30%

**Required Qualifications**:

- One year of applicable clinical lab work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
- Experience with lab/hospital computer systems and software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Demonstrated experience using a computer, including data entry and retrieval
- Ability to work weekends, and rotating shifts including evenings, nights and holidays
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the organization
