**Duties**:
Working with the Director and program managers on assigned programs and projects, the incumbent assists in the management and implementation of the educational outreach initiatives of the Kluge Center, including events, scholarly workshops, conferences, and other meetings, both public and private, in order to help to meet the educational mission of the Kluge Center to the U.S. Congress, the scholarly community, and the public.

The incumbent works effectively and collaboratively with units throughout the agency (Communications, Events, and others) to coordinate and implement efforts to meet the Kluge Center’s educational and outreach objectives. Maintains the Kluge Center’s portfolio of relationships with alumni and with national and international scholarly organizations and associations that represent each of the major disciplines and fields of study within the humanities and social sciences.

Works with the program managers and with the Writer-Editor to promote and disseminate the research and educational opportunities offered by the Kluge Center to scholars, including through occasional travel and attendance at conferences. Plans and conducts joint and collaborative programs, including alumni and advisory meetings, with the purpose of advancing the Kluge Center’s objectives. Undertakes or participates in special projects, ongoing analyses, investigations, and initiatives as assigned by the Director and program managers.

Aids in the preparation of print and electronic materials and communications to create and maintain relationships with each of the key constituencies (alumni, academic institutions, scholarly associations). Maintains and updates relevant sections of the Kluge Center’s databases, e.g., alumni, academic institutions, and scholarly associations. Regularly schedule and manage meetings of alumni advisors, working with the Director to develop agendas, issue invitations, keep records, and follow up on action items.

Works with the Director and program managers to gather, track, and report quantitative and qualitative data to aid in the evaluation of the effectiveness of educational programs, outreach activities, and other Kluge Center priorities. Documents findings and assembles data and information for strategic planning and management decisions on educational programs and outreach efforts to be undertaken, changed, or discontinued.

In collaboration with senior specialist, recommend improvements for current and proposed programs and operations to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness in meeting goals and objectives. Works with the Director to devise and develop detailed plans, goals, and objectives for the long-range implementation and administration of Kluge Center educational programs and outreach efforts. Contributes to internal assessment efforts and agency quarterly and annual reporting regarding goals, targets, and milestones and provides assistance for foundation and other donor reporting as needed.

Assists in the compiling and providing quantitative measurements and metrics regarding educational outreach work, for use in tracking Key Performance Indicators and other measures of success for the Kluge Center.

**Qualifications**:
Applicants must have had progressively responsible experience and training sufficient in scope and quality to furnish them with an acceptable level of the following knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position without more than normal supervision.

**Ability to coordinate educational outreach initiatives.**

**Ability to provide program assessment and oversight.**

**Ability to perform liaison activities in support of programs and projects.**

**Ability to communicate in writing to support educational outreach initiatives.**

**Ability to communicate effectively other than in writing.**

**Additional information**:
Although it is the Library's policy to afford the maximum pay benefit to employees when setting rates of pay, a new appointee who has had no previous Federal service will generally be paid at step one of the grade.
