Pay Range

$32.80 - $37.97 Hourly for the 821.1 level
$40.32 - $46.66 Hourly for the 821.2 level

Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.

**Job Description**:
We're looking for a Locksmith. You will perform basic locksmithing techniques to ensure protection of property and classified information and materials at the Livermore Site, Site 300 and specified off-site locations in compliance with DOE Orders, NNSA Policy and ES&H regulations under close supervision of the Locks, Keys and Tesa Group (LKTG) Leader, and with guidance from senior locksmiths. The position is in the Security Organization.

This position will be filled at either level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.

You will

Provide routine and emergency locksmith services, working with technical guidance from supervisor and senior locksmiths on moderate to complex assignments.
Troubleshoot, repair, and install various locking devices; make recommendations for replacements and/or upgrades, with guidance from supervisor.
Change combinations on repositories, safes, Vault Type Rooms (VTRs) equipped with a variety of mechanical and electromechanical 3 and 4 position spin dial combinations locks.
Originate keys by code, key identification, and duplication.
Work within the LKTG Service Request System, LOKM (Livermore Operated Key Manager), and the Tesa lock databases.
Conduct and maintain shop stock inventories.
Conduct level-based key/core inventories.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional job responsibilities, at the 821.2 Level

Perform neutralization and repair of GSA-approved containers and VTR doors using opening techniques and methods recognized in Federal Standard FED-STD-809A.
Perform advanced door/door frame installations, modifications, and repairs, to include various door hardware and closers.
Process LKTG Forms; perform database programming for all Security Key Ring storage tasks.

**Qualifications**:
Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
Ability to successfully complete a Professional Locksmithing course, supported by in-house training.
Basic experience operating various hand and power tools effectively.
Strong customer service orientation and experience, and the ability to effectively adapt to changing priorities and short deadlines particularly in a shop environment.
Familiarity with or ability to learn database maintenance.
Advanced verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills necessary to interact tactfully and effectively with a diverse group of personalities and disciplines and to maintain productive work relationships.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and follow through.
Experience working independently and as a team member effectively.

Additional qualifications at the 821.2 Level

Successfully completed Professional Locksmithing course or possess equivalent years of experience.
Formal hands-on training and journeyman-level experience with demonstrated proficiency in performing basic and advanced locksmith services on mechanical and electromechanical safe and vault type room locks. Also, perform bypass techniques, lock picking and key impressioning.
Intermediate experience using various hand and power tools used in the locksmithing field, e.g., Magnum Bolt Buster, Drill Rig, HPC code machine, HPC duplicating machine, BEST key combinator machine and capping tool.

Qualifications We Desire

Field experience working in a classified environment.
Knowledge of DOE Orders and Locks, Keys and Tesa policies and procedures related to the Security Organization and the Protected Areas.
Familiarity with computers and experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, and FileMaker Pro.
