The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) Innovations Institute has launched a new capacity-building hub for community-based organizations that have recently been funded and those that have previously been denied funding. The Innovations Institute will provide coaching to assist organizations over the next few years. The goal of the Innovations Institute is to support the growth of each of the partner organizations and ensure that their organizations are operating at a high capacity and are better able to sustain themselves. This position will assist in some development, design, and implementation of the capacity-building program. This position will be responsible for supporting organizations that will be placed in the cohorts with efforts to assist in the strengthening of the organizational infrastructure of cohort partners. This position will review the assessments completed by cohort partners to determine their specific needs and help to facilitate services to address their needs.

**Essential Function 1**:
1. Establish and maintain strong relationships with local community-based organizations in the city, county, and statewide communities in Illinois who are charged with or are interested in implementing violence prevention and reduction programs.

**Essential Function 2**:
2. Provide direct capacity-building support to community-based organizations that need to strengthen their organization’s infrastructure, including; program development, board development, fiscal accountability, staff support and management, trauma-informed practices, and more.

3. Facilitate connections to city, county, state, and federal resources to financially support partner organizations, as needed.

**Essential Function 4**:
4. Acknowledge and support procedures to foster communication between law enforcement and community-based street outreach and violence prevention organizations in immediate response to gun-related incidents of violence.

**Essential Function 5**:
5. Engage with community organizations, block clubs and associations, afterschool programs, and others to explore potential funding opportunities.

6. Identify key violence reduction policy priorities from community residents and support other local entities in collective action initiatives focused on violence reduction.

**Essential Function 7**:
7. Serve as a liaison between community-based organizations and local governments to ensure violence reduction goals remain a priority of local efforts within respective communities.

**Essential Function 8**:
8. Assist partner organizations with the development and implementation of operationalization plans to address violence and to achieve their goals.

9. Facilitate an ongoing feedback loop to ensure that community voice is incorporated into all processes.

**Specialized Skills 1**:
1. Strong proficiency in writing and developing capacity-building supports for violence prevention organizations such as grant writing, organizational development and performance measurements.

2. Ability to work strategically and collaboratively with various community stakeholders.

3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

4. Ability to travel throughout the State of Illinois as needed.

**Minimum Qualifications 1**:
1. A four-year degree in human services, social work, community development, or a related field is required. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.

**Minimum Qualifications 2**:
2. A minimum of five years of professional experience working directly in community areas that have been impacted by violence, demonstrating a deep understanding of the challenges faced by these communities.

**Minimum Qualifications 3**:
3. At least three years of experience providing capacity-building support to communities or community organizations, focusing on strengthening their infrastructure and implementing effective strategies for program development, board development, fiscal accountability, staff support and management, and trauma-informed practices.
