**Class Definition**:
**General Statement of Duties**:Conducts investigations of charges of discrimination and resolves charges when feasible. Assists the Commission in enforcement of and compliance with Rhode Island antidiscrimination laws and related federal laws. Assumes computer functions. Performs other related duties as required.

**Supervision Received**:Directly supervised by the Executive Director.

**Supervision Exercised**:Supervises the work of student interns.

**Illustrative Examples of Work Performed**:

- Manages an investigative caseload and conducts investigations of charges of discrimination in the areas of employment, housing, public accommodations, credit and delivery of services. Investigative tasks include, but are not limited to: collection and analysis of statistical, comparative and direct evidence of discrimination; coordination and execution of Predetermination Conferences before an agency Commissioner; coordination and execution of independent fact-finding conferences; preparation for and conduct of in-person, on-site and telephonic interviews of parties and witnesses. Negotiates with complainants, respondents and their representatives to achieve settlement when possible. Applies laws and regulations to evidence gathered to prepare detailed and comprehensive written summary recommendations for consideration by agency Commissioners. Drafts formal complaints of discrimination following Probable Cause findings. Handles in-person and telephonic inquiries related to charge filing, reviews intake questionnaires and related documents containing allegations of discrimination to determine jurisdiction. Attends training conferences, to include out-of-state travel. Participates in administrative hearings, depositions and related proceedings as required. Represents the agency on committees and task forces as required. Participates in outreach/training to the public on state and federal antidiscrimination laws as assigned. Plans and executes related or assigned projects. Performs related duties as required.

**Required Qualifications for Appointment**:
**Education**: Such as may be gained through graduation from high school with at least two (2) years of college or completion of an Associate's Degree at an accredited institution; and

**OR**: Any combination of education and experience that shall be substantially equivalent to the above education and experience.

**Supplemental Information**:
Bilingual preferred.
