The Prince William County Police - Animal Services Bureau is seeking a Veterinary Specialist to join our staff and be a part of the creation of a veterinary program that increases the level of care we provide, maximizes our positive outcomes and provides greater services to our community.

**About This Role**:
The ASB Veterinary Specialist functions as the primary assistant to the staff veterinarian. This position will be responsible for assisting the veterinarian with exams, surgical prep, recovery, maintaining proper care of animals under treatment, and the cleanliness of the Veterinary Suite at the Animal Services Center.

**Minimum Requirements**:
High school diploma or G.E.D. and 1 year of related (performing animal care in a setting such as an animal shelter, a veterinary practice, or a laboratory experience).

**Preferences**:

- Certified Veterinary Assistant
- Experience with Fear Free Techniques
- Experience in supportive care in a High Volume Spay/Neuter Operation
- Experience in a Shelter Medicine or Herd Medicine setting
- At least 3 years of full-time experience performing animal care in a setting such as an animal shelter, a veterinary practice, or a laboratory

**Special Requirements**:

- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must complete euthanasia certification (training provided) within 1 year of hire
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds

**Work Schedule**:
This position is full time, 40 hours per week. This position is considered essential personnel during county closures and holidays.
**Starting Salary Range**:
$45,780.80 - $68,660.80
