Overview:
Supports the operational activities of a high-complexity, testing lab involved in specimen testing and product processing. Responsible for regulatory reporting, interpretation of results in accordance with organizational policies and procedures, and Institutional Review Board (IRB) protocol(s). Serves as laboratory advisor to clients on projects regarding processing capabilities, assay development and/or result reporting.
**Responsibilities**:
The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the duties and responsibilities performed within this classification. - Performs, interprets and conducts concurrent documentation on various testing procedures on participant specimens as well as products; identifies and resolves critical results related to testing and reports accordingly
- Responsible for the appropriate storage, packing, shipping and disposal of participant specimens/products
- Performs preventive and advanced maintenance on laboratory instruments and calibrates equipment and instruments as required
- Ensures that standards for compliance, use of equipment, and quality control are met as required by organizational policies and all accrediting, state and/or federal agencies
- Assists in the development of laboratory SOPs, process validations, CAPAs, change controls, planned deviations, environmental assessment; assists with audits and inspections
- Conducts or supports process improvement initiatives including those needing statistical analysis
- Develops a deep understanding of client needs, expectations, and concerns; acts as their liaison to ensure their interests are represented and addressed
- Mentors or trains other laboratory employees as required
- Participates in facility maintenance, ordering supplies and managing critical inventory.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE**:
Bachelor's degree in medical technology, healthcare, chemistry, biology, biotechnology or related field from an accredited college or university. Two (2) years of experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
**CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS**:
Valid and current Florida Clinical Laboratory Technologist license in Hematology. Other Florida licenses may be required based on newly implemented testing.
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:
- Proficient skills with high complexity laboratory equipment, specifically flow cytometry
- Proficient skills with Cellular processing activities such as purification, isolation and/or cryopreservation
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships
- Ability to create and implement Process or CQI initiatives
- Ability to organize work for timely completion with mínimal supervision
- Ability to follow and communicate complex oral and written instructions
- Knowledge of Adult learning methodologies
- Advanced computer skills including experience with various laboratory reporting programs
- Ability to read, write and speak English effectively
- Ability to report to work during a disaster, public health emergency or other catastrophic event.
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**:

Tasks may involve some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, walking, standing, and manual dexterity in the operation of equipment. Additional, tasks may involve manual dexterity, visual acuity, hearing acuity, and extended periods of time at a keyboard or work station.
