**Position**: Transportation Routing Coordinator -Transportation 52 weeks
**Schedule**: 8 hours/day, 5 days/week, 52 weeks/year Full time with Benefits/hourly position
**Position Purpose**: Under the general supervision of the Manager of Transportation, the Transportation Router plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school and other educational activities. This position requires a meticulous individual with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to student safety.
**Essential Functions**:

- Design and optimize bus routes to ensure timely and efficient transportation for students across the school district utilizing the computerized routing system.
- Maintain accurate records of bus routes, schedules, and passenger information using transportation management software.
- Provide training and support to bus drivers on route navigation, safety procedures, and customer service standards.
- Provide routing lists to drivers with directions, students rosters for schools,
- Understands and follows KPS policies, safety guidelines, and DOT procedures related to routing.
- Creates and schedules bus evacuations
- Participates in computer training and all other required training.
- Assist office staff with answering phones.
- Assist with dispatching via two-way radios.
- Subbing on routes if needed.
- Regular, Reliable and Punctual attendance

**Equipment**: Use of standard office equipment, such as personal computers and copiers.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and others contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
- Ability to work in an economically, culturally and racially diverse environment.
- Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
- Able to assume responsibility with minimum if direct supervision.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Transportation Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in transportation routing, logistics, or a related field.
- Familiarity with transportation management software (e.g., Transfinder, Edulog) and geographic information systems (GIS) tools.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and optimize transportation routes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of state and federal transportation regulations, particularly as they relate to school transportation.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
