Position Summary:
The Director of Operations is responsible for the effective operation of our 30-acre campus that includes ~60,000 sq. ft. of greenhouse grow and ~100,000 sq.ft. of indoor grow across three buildings. This position oversees harvest, post-harvest, fulfillment, distribution, inventory and packaging departments; regulatory compliance; and all other functions necessary for the successful production of cannabis products. This position reports to the VP of Operations. The position oversees diverse business operations, including leading senior level managers; staff scheduling and supervision; procurement and production planning, and ensuring a safe, secure, and productive work environment. This position will interface with customers and key business partners at other facilities.

This role provides operational advice and recommendations to the VP of Operations and COO to implement operational efficiencies and maximize profitability while meeting the strategic objectives of the company. They will manage and report on all key operational processes, and key performance indicators.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Responsible for operations activities including Harvest, Post-Harvest, gummy production, packaging, and Fulfillment.
- Ensure all grow facilities and buildings are maintained and the state-of-the-art equipment is functioning optimally and is conducive to the cultivation, processing, packaging, and distribution of cannabis.
- Leads the development, communication, and implementation of effective operational strategies and processes by setting comprehensive and clear performance goals that support the company’s strategic plan.
- Ensure all processes meet minimum quality standards as identified by the Quality Control department
- Oversee materials management team
- Develop, maintain, and improve manufacturing processes and policies
- Oversee equipment selection for all manufacturing activities
- Partner with the sales team to understand and accommodate the customers’ priorities and needs, which could include introducing the customer to facilities and key practices
- With the General Managers and/or Operations Managers of each facility, oversee inspections of equipment, systems, and facilities--including all electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems; work with the maintenance manager to establish preventative maintenance schedules to identify and avert potential problems; take appropriate action to ensure maximum efficiency of equipment and systems; and respond to all emergencies
- Reviews inventory for both manufactured and 3rd party products and sets expectations for production planning.
- Provides critical interface between the field sales organization and internal operations.
- Implements business strategies, plans and procedures that promote collaboration and a positive culture and vision for the organization
- Ensure company meets stringent compliance and quality requirements
- All other duties as assigned

Required Experience, Education, and Skills:

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar discipline is required
- 5-10 years’ progressive advancement in management roles at large scale production facilities is required
- Cannabis industry experience is desired
- Experience in cGMP certified facilities is preferred
- Successful management of a team of managers and a staff of 80-100+ is required
- Strong ethics and passion for compliance
- Proven expertise in operations management, team management, Lean/Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement manufacturing principles, strategic and business planning methods, and project planning and coordination
- Strong communication and computer skills
- Effective project management and time-management skills and the ability to multi-task
- Ability to develop and foster strong working relationships throughout all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills; the ability to predict and/or identify and resolve problems and issues in partnership with stakeholders
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment
