Under the general direction of the Deputy Chief of the Office of the Director
- Research Unit, the Research Data Supervisor II supervises several Prevailing Wage Research Data Analyst staff, while assuming responsibility for carrying out certain program elements.
- A description of the program elements on which the incumbent works, with approximate percentages of his/her time devoted to each element follows. Essential tasks include: devises and implements overall plans for specific assignments such as: apprentice determinations, petitions to review, and special research assignments; organizes the workload and assignments of the research staff who conduct wage and benefits surveys; oversees the semiannual publication of the Director's General Prevailing Wage Determinations; resolves escalation of any issues raised by staff or the Research Data Supervisor I; identifies, reports, and makes recommendations to the Deputy Chief on the most complex prevailing wage matters; responsible for setting goals, deadlines, and priorities for the General Prevailing Wage Determination section; In a lead capacity, communicates or oversees a small team that communicates business requirements to the Office of Information Services and/or vendors for systems maintenance or systems development projects, etc.

The Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) was established in 1927. Its mission is to improve working conditions for California's wage earners and to advance opportunities for profitable employment in California. DIR administers and enforces laws governing wages, workplace safety and health, apprenticeship training programs, and medical care and other benefits for injured workers.
