The Post Oak School is looking for teachers who are passionate about their work and have an optimistic view of the capacities of teenagers. We are looking for faculty members who are willing to share their experience with students, teach elective courses, travel, and lead extra-curricular activities aligned with their personal interests.
**Summary**
The science teacher is responsible for teaching integrated sciences (earth science, biology, physics, chemistry, and natural science) for grades 9-10 and IB biology for grades 11-12. This role also requires:
- leading a student advisory
- traveling with the high school on our one-week Odyssey trip and overnight Retreat
- proposing and teaching elective courses during our two-week J- and M-Terms
- modeling a positive regard for adolescents, their work, and their personal dignity
- learning and using a Montessori approach, emphasizing hands-on, real-world learning
- engaging in collaboration with all faculty members
- cultivating productive relationships with our community partner organizations
Experience with and enthusiasm for participating in curricular travel opportunities is a plus.

Previous teaching experience, particularly high school
- a deep knowledge of their content area
- a never-ending passion for personal learning
- the ability to creatively match academic and real-world challenges to a variety of student skill levels
- commitment to the goals of Montessori education
Teachers must be able to work in a fast-paced, highly fluid, and innovative workplace. The Post Oak School’s Middle and High School programs are situated in the Houston Museum District. Our academic program depends on extending the classroom work through connections and partnerships with local cultural institutions that the teaching faculty is expected to cultivate and maintain.
