Information Technology Specialist

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the duties the employee may be expected to perform. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
- Provides technical guidance and expertise in the purchase and implementation of new software, hardware or technology.
- Installs and troubleshoots the installation of desktop personal computers throughout the BLP, including hardware and operating system software.
- Under supervision, provides guidance and input for setting company policies and procedures.
- Provides basic computer training on hardware and operating systems to end users.
- Provides help desk support to end users.
- Performs back up and recovery procedures on all network systems and servers.
- Recommends and implements software and hardware updates and improvements to keep the system up-to-date and protected from cyber threats.
- Educates end users on cybersecurity issues and best practice security procedures.
- Troubleshoots network performance issues and recommends and implements solutions.
- Responds to emergencies related to essential job functions outside of normal business hours as needed.
- Performs special projects in support of all departments and other duties as assigned.

- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; or equivalent education and experience.
- Significant experience evaluating, purchasing, and implementing commercial software products.
- Must be analytical and resourceful and be able to resolve problems of a very technical nature.
- Must maintain a high level of knowledge of the computer industry in general and utility computer systems in particular through literature review and/or continuing education.
- Must be able to develop information technological policies that keep up with industry norms and that are practical in a user environment.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with all levels of organizational personnel situations requiring tact and patience.
- Mental ability to frequently work on projects requiring attention to detail and deal with the concerns of employees.
- Excellent attendance and safety record.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items of light to moderate weight. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and peripheral vision.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a business office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
