Position Summary

A Maintenance Gardener is responsible for performing a variety of landscape tasks including mowing, trimming, ground maintenance, and keeping our client's landscape looking beautiful

Essential Functions

- Follows directions from the Crew Leader; performs landscape maintenance functions (e.g., pulling weeds, raking leaves, sweeping sidewalks, and cleaning debris)
- Clears ditches, digs holes, and performs handwork as necessary using a pick, shovel, or other hand tools
- Waters vegetation using a hose; cleans canals, drains, and tree wells;
- Operates light landscape equipment (e.g., 21" mower, leaf blower, weed eater, stick edger, and hedge trimmer) and other landscape equipment (e.g., 36", 48" and riding lawn mowers)
- Plants vegetation as instructed
- Maintains tools and equipment to ensure safety
- Attends safety meetings and adheres to PPE usage
- Performs general clean up at the work site
- Ensures work is performed to the company's and customer's expectations
- Finishes the work efficiently
- Recognizes areas for improvement in the landscape and communicates this to the Crew Leader
- Provides excellent service (e.g., accurate, complete, and timely) to clients, work-site partners, and company staff in a courteous and efficient manner
- Other duties as assigned by management

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies
- Ability to think ahead and completes tasks efficiently within budget and timelines
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to be trained in and then identify weeds, insects, and plants correctly
- Communicates well with others using basic English and/or Spanish
- Safety Minded: Performs all job functions safely; complies with all safety policies, procedures, and standards (e.g., PPE, proper lifting, wears seat belt when in a vehicle); reports all safety-related incidents to supervisor immediately; attends all safety meetings
- Demonstrates Punctuality/Attendance: Shows up to work each day on time; completes all tasks within time expectations; adheres to company dress code policy, follows inclement weather policy and attendance policy and procedures

Education/Experience/Licenses
- Must be 18+ years of Age - required
- If hired must be willing to submit to a background check - required
- Valid Driver's License and Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record - preferred
-  HS Diploma or Equivalent - preferred
-  Any previous landscape maintenance experience - preferred
- Any manual labor experience, and working outdoors - preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities

None

Work Environment

Work is performed outdoors for entire shifts in all types of weather including extreme heat, direct sun, rain, wind, dust. The worker will be exposed to varying noise levels and safely handle/work around pesticides, herbicides, grease, oils, fumes, and electrical currents.
