The Pesticide Field Staff Supervisor will serve as the primary compliance officer for overseeing, coordinating and supervising pesticide inspection and investigation activities by the Office of Indiana State Chemist (OISC) for regulated businesses and individuals throughout Indiana. OISC is the Governor-appointed pesticide state lead agency for the State of Indiana.

**What You'll Be Doing**:

- Direct and supervise the field assignments and activities, including response to public complaints, for 8-10 fulltime pesticide investigators and 1-2 pesticide product investigation specialists
- Ensure proper staffing and provide training and on the job coaching as necessary
- Hiring, annual performance evaluations, time off approvals, and may provide recommendations for staff promotions and rewards (ex: merit) for direct reports
- Ensure short-term operational plans that contribute to overall goal achievement of Office of State Chemist are in place
- Provide continuous logístical support and training for all pesticide field staff
- Provide input to the Pesticide Administrator and other senior managers and staff on agency policy and legislation related to pesticide regulation and compliance, on agency field priorities, and on other pesticide field staff hiring decisions and performance evaluation
- Coordinate and collaborate with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, other state lead agencies, private regulated industries, farmers, and the public on administration and implementation of the state plan for compliance inspections, investigations, and related activities, including representing OISC on State, regional, and national associations, workgroups, and committees
- Collaborate with OISC Quality Assurance Section to develop and maintain technical policies and standard operating procedures for pesticide field staff compliance inspections and investigations statewide
- Assess current processes and implement updates as necessary
- Maintain personal proficiency and qualifications to perform inspections and investigations to ensure and supplement adequate field response capabilities, as needed

**What We're Looking For**:

- Bachelor's degree
- 4 years of relevant work experience in agricultural or environmental compliance. (Personnel management and local, state or federal regulatory experience will also be considered)
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered. Associate's + 6 years of experience; HS/GED + 8 years of experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to supervise professional staff and provide situation analysis and guidance
- Travel
