**AREA REPRESENTATIVE**
Los Angeles City Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez is seeking highly motivated individuals interested in working as area representatives serving Council District 7 for the communities of Pacoima, Sylmar, Mission Hills, North Hills, Lake View Terrace, Shadow Hills, La Tuna Canyon, Sunland and Tujunga.
**DESCRIPTION**: The area representative represents the Councilwoman throughout the communities and neighborhoods in the district, and provides direct assistance to constituents, businesses, homeowners and tenant associations, community based organizations, and neighborhood councils. The area representative serves as the liaison between constituents and city departments for various policies and projects, and is charged with engaging and mobilizing constituents in their neighborhoods. The area representative will report directly to the Area Director.
**DUTIES**:
- Attend meetings of neighborhood councils, community groups, business associations and neighborhood watch meetings, community events representing the Councilwoman
- Track issues and priorities as identified by the Councilwoman for the District
- Problem solve and identify strategies and recommendations for the prioritization of projects, issues and programs that benefit Council District 7
- Identify, organize and coordinate community events for the Councilwoman
- Prepare briefing documents, including talking points and other relevant background information for the Councilwoman
- Advancing and accompanying the Councilwoman to events
- Manage projects and case management for constituent services
**REQUIREMENTS**:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Strong written and oral communications skills, bilingual Spanish a plus
- Background and understanding of Council District 7
- Self-directed, ability to effectively solve problems, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks under pressure in a fast paced environment
- Work night and/or weekend hours as necessary to attend meetings, events, and staff the Councilwoman and/or perform other essential duties
**SALARY**: The annual base salary for this position is in the range of $50,000 - $70,000. The exact salary compensation will be based on skills and experience.
