Voter Registration

**Position Information**:
Arlington County is seeking temporary employees for a variety of positions to support the Office of Voter Registration and Elections during the 2024 General Election. Positions will last approximately 5 months starting in late July/early August and run until November 5th, 2024 or shortly afterward. Applicants should be available for a minimum of 10 hours/ week from Labor Day to Veteran’s Day. Hours are variable and will increase closer to the election. Evening and weekend hours are available.

**Data Entry and Voter Support Hotline Clerks (About 30+) **are needed to assist with voter registration and mail ballot processing tasks.

Specific duties include:

- Scanning document and associating them to voter database records;
- Processing electronic voter registration requests;
- Answering voters’ questions over the phone;
- Preparing ballot packs for mailing and proofing; and

Persons employed in these positions may choose to serve as Officers of Election at the polls on Election Day. Some may be asked to work in the office. Most of these positions will be terminated after the Election.
**Volunteer Coordinator Assistant **will assist with the scheduling and coordination of paid poll workers to staff polling places on Election Day.
Specific duties include:

- Providing initial contact, processing, scheduling, tracking of training classes for poll workers:

- Contacting, recruiting, and communicating mostly electronically but may be by phone or in person with poll workers;
- Coordinating Student Page and Election Concierge volunteer programs.

This position will be cross-trained in the basic duties listed under Data Entry Clerk, Voter Support Clerk, and Early Voting Clerk and is expected to help out with other office tasks as needed. Will be required to attend and assist with some evening and weekend training classes.

**Selection Criteria**:
**Minimum**:High School diploma and 0-12 months of related experience.

**Desirable**:Preference will be giving to applicants with one or more of the following:

- Basic computer and Internet proficiency;
- Prior or current data entry and election experience;
- Customer service skills and familiarity with phone etiquette;
- Flexibility and willingness to work evening and weekend hours; and/or
- Prior election experience.

**Special Requirements**:
Must be a registered voter in Virginia.

**Background Check**:A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. It may include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, polygraph examination and credit history. You will be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.

**Additional Information**:
Pay ranges listed are effective June 30, 2024.

**Work Hours**:Hours are variable, part-time up to full-time (10-40 hours/week) and will increase closer to the election. Evening and weekend hours are available. Applicants should be available for a minimum of 10 hours/ week from October 19th to November 2nd.
