Position Information:


Arlington County is seeking temporary employees for a variety of positions to support the Office of Voter Registration and Elections during the 2024 General Election.

Positions will last up to 4 months starting in September and run until November 5th, 2024 with the greatest need for October 14th to November 8th.

Applicants should be available for a minimum of 10 hours/ week from October 19th to November 2nd. Hours are variable and will increase closer to the election. Evening and weekend hours are available.

Early Voting Clerks will conduct in-person early voting work similar to that of an to election officer on election day (Learn More). Some clerks will be assigned to a location other than Courthouse Metro starting in late October.

Mail Ballot Clerks will work in teams of two to accept, open, and count mail ballots. These positions start approximately 4 weeks before the election.

Selection Criteria:

Minimum:

  • High School diploma; and
  • Some experience working as an Election Officer

Desirable:
Preference will be giving to applicants with one or more of the following:

  • Customer service skills;
  • Flexibility and willingness to work evening and weekend hours; and/or
  • Ability to follow Virginia election law and established procedures.

Special Requirements:

Must be a registered voter in Virginia.

Background Check:
A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted.

It may include checks of the following:
criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, polygraph examination and credit history. You will be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information.

Additional Information:

Pay ranges listed are effective June 30, 2024.

Work Hours:
Hours are variable, part-time up to full-time hours/week) and will increase closer to the election. Evening and weekend hours are available. Applicants should be available for a minimum of 10 hours/ week from October 19th to November 2nd.

Job Location: 2100 Clarendon Blvd, Arlington *Courthouse METRO-accessible*Employees are responsible for their own transportation, including parking costs at Courthouse Plaza.
