**Position Summary**: The incumbent is primarily responsible for emergency intervention by responding to calls coming in on The Genieve Shelter Crisis hotline, as well as emergency intakes for victims of domestic violence or sexual assault. The incumbent is responsible for entering all clients into the master file document and set up client records in paper file and ECM and VADATA systems.

**Responsibilities**:

- Screen all requests for shelter or community assistance, complete hotline forms, conduct intake assessments, assign residents to shelter, conduct crisis interviews with callers as needed, assist victims in obtaining emergency protective orders, provide accompaniment to the magistrate’s office as needed, secure transportation and placement for callers who are in immediate danger and provide information and referral as appropriate. Arrange for staff to assist with children’s intakes for families.
- Obtain a copy of needed documents such as Picture ID, SS cards etc. and screen for COVID status.
- Complete all necessary paperwork in response to calls, document interventions, complete appropriate referrals to other direct services. Intake case manager will complete statistical monthly reports. Make-up new intake packets for community and shelter for all clients.
- Provide victims to emergency shelter or to local motels with food, hygiene products, after completing intakes.
- Respond to crises as they arise as a walk -in intake at the admin office. Apprise evening staff of pending evening intakes as a back-up plan, prior to shift ending.
- Be located on-site at the Admin/Resource Center or at the emergency shelters during the hours of shift.
- Follow the “Emergency Response Policy” for placement of families/individuals in immediate danger when shelters are full.
- Work directly with case managers and student interns; assist with client’s services.
- Perform all procedures related to communication across shifts, documentation, record keeping, and reporting.
- Transporting clients in agency vehicles from safe sites and to emergency shelter.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Executive Director.

**Required Background**:

- Requires a minimum of a B.A. or B.S. social work, counseling, criminal justice, or other related disciplines
- At least some experience in crisis intervention work with victim of domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Working knowledge of issues as they relate to domestic violence and sexual assault.

**Required Skills**:

- Experience managing multiple projects and activities simultaneously
- Versed in the dynamics of domestic violence and current teachings on power and control as articulated in the domestic violence literature
- Versed in the principles of empowerment and able to demonstrate this in all interactions with clients’ volunteers and staff
- Knowledge of the legal rights of victims of domestic abuse and how to obtain protective orders
- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Ability to work within a team model of service delivery
- Ability to use a computer and a telephone
- Possess a Virginia Driver’s License and a reasonably clean driving record

**Required Physical Skills**:

- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle, a car, truck and/or van
- Ability to walk, climb and reach
- Ability to conduct & attend meetings
- Ability to sort donations of clothing and food items

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
