Tool Maker

**Job Title**:Machinist/Tool Maker - Union

**Reports To**:Machine Shop Manager

**Job Type/Location**:Full time, Moonachie, NJ

**Position Summary**:Primary responsibilities for Machinist/Tool Maker will include completing the projects for designing and constructing tooling, assembly fixtures and jigs necessary for QC, Production or the Machine Shop and Production Floor.

**Responsibilities**:

- Designs, fabricates and constructs tooling, assembly fixtures and jigs, soft vise jaws, shop aids.
- Cooperates with Engineering, Production and Machine Shop personnel for completion of the projects.
- Assists in construction of fixtures, jigs, tools and shop aids etc.,
- Interprets and follows drawings, specified requirements, procedures, instructions and other applicable documentation.
- Sets-up, operates various bench mounted equipment, including milling machines, lather & surface grinders, shears, saws, punch press, radial drill, band saws, all types of hand tools, electric powered hand tools, air powered hand tools.
- Uses various measuring and inspection tools and equipment for inspection, compliance, and accuracy verification.
- Completes assignments in an accurate, thorough and detailed manner.
- Performs maintenance to machines and equipment in Machine shop, as required.
- Meets or exceeds productivity, quality and safety standards.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

**Qualifications and Skills**:

- Experience in machining and tool making processes (required)
- Proficiency reading complex engineering drawings (required)
- Expertise in GD&T.
- Competency in measuring tools commonly used in the machining industry (i.e. Calipers, Micrometers, etc.).
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with peers and supervisors.
- Ability to ensure safety of personnel and equipment.

**Expected Pay**:$20-$28 per hour
