General Statement of Duties:
The Center for Justice and Liberation advocates and serves as a comprehensive collaborative community space that honors and centers the holistic development and retention of underrepresented, marginalized, and stigmatized students due to oppressive structures. The center’s work is focused in the areas of social justice, liberation, academic enrichment, advocacy and resources.

Duties and Responsibilities:
**BUDGET**
- Responsible for budget preparation, budget contract, and other matters related to the procurement of events, programs and services

**SUPERVISION**
- Provide direction and supervision to the professional, faculty fellow, graduate assistants and support staff
- Oversees the selection of professional staff, evaluate department personnel, and makes recommendations for appointment and other personnel actions
- Trains and evaluates professional and paraprofessional staff

**CAMPUS ENGAGEMENT**
- Oversee the planning and coordination of student focused campus-wide diversity programming and large-scale events in collaboration with staff, faculty, students and administrators
- Creates and conducts assessment activities based on learning outcomes to evaluate programs and services
- Available for response to crisis and emergency on an on-going basis and serve on the BIAS response team
- In collaboration with community standards, enforce university policies with campus organizations
- Provide general support, development and advisement to identity-based student organizations including trainings for student leaders and organization advisors
- Oversee identity-based student organization travel policies and procedures as it relates to conferences, overnight and day trips
- Assist with the administration of contracts for all performer, exhibition, and service vendors

**ADVOCACY AND DIVERSITY**
- Work with campus partners to orchestrate a comprehensive support plan for diverse students including; students of color, students across and outside the gender and sexual orientation spectrum, and students of additional marginalized identities
- Collaborate with the Office of Inclusive Excellence to proactively address and respond to university-wide issues of diversity and social justice that affect students
- Inform, develop, lead and implement the programmatic, educational and leadership development opportunities on issues of diversity for our student community
- Establish positive relationships and outreach to students of color on campus. Support student organizations such as Latin American Student Organization, Black Student Union and The Alliance
- In collaboration develop, initiate, and produce annual week-long programs and heritage month collaboratives including Martin Luther King Jr. Week, convocation, leadership receptions, including theme months (BHM, LHM, APIDA),
- Cultivate a culture of leadership growth and development of students from orientation to graduation.
- Support the expansion of multicultural understanding on campus through sponsored forums, presentations, and activities
- Serve as the primary consultant to university departments as liaison for identity-based student groups and departments on management policies and operating practices
- Collaborate with department staff to produce events and programs that increase student engagement

**FACILITIES AND OPERATIONS**
- Execute programs and services that advocate for and address the needs of other special populations including commuters and off-campus students
- Partners with Campus Life and Recreation in the administration and ongoing evaluation of a student event approval and room reservation process for identity-based student organizations
- Provides staffing, management, scheduling and programming for the Center for Justice and Liberation
- Assist with major Student Life and university large-scale events such as Orientation, Move-In and Commencement

This is a hybrid position with on-campus, in-person responsibilities in Salem, MA, which may require ocasional work on evenings and weekends.
