Automotive Inventory and Purchasing Manager

**Summary**:
Strom Motorsports is a Motorsport Engineering company that is focused on designing and building road race cars to the same level as BMW or Porsche. Our current core project is the B46 Race Car and we also produce and sell specific race car parts to other shops and racers. We are ramping up production of the B46 and are working towards an output goal of 4 cars a month and require a value adding team member to handle parts management and purchasing.

The Inventory and Purchasing Manager is a key member of the manufacturing team, responsible for ensuring that the company has the parts and materials it needs to build new B46 Race Cars on time and within budget. This role requires an understanding of manufacturing processes, inventory management, and purchasing.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Learning and understanding what specific parts and materials are used and why.
- Maintaining accurate inventory records of all parts and materials used in the manufacturing process. This includes tracking quantities on hand, on order, and in transit, as well as the location of each item in the warehouse.
- Forecasting future parts and materials needs based on production schedules and historical data. This involves working closely with the production team and engineers to understand their upcoming requirements and identifying any potential bottlenecks.
- Sourcing and procuring parts and materials from suppliers in a timely and cost-effective manner. This requires excellent fact finding and negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
- Ensuring that all parts and materials meet quality standards. This involves understanding the parts and inspecting incoming shipments and rejecting any items that do not meet specifications.
- Managing the storage and distribution of parts and materials to the production floor. This involves developing and implementing efficient inventory storage systems and ensuring that parts are available when and where they are needed.
- Working with production personnel to identify and resolve any inventory or parts-related issues. This may involve troubleshooting problems with suppliers, expediting orders, or finding alternative sources of parts.

**Secondary Responsibilities**:

- Sourcing parts and updating invoices for our race car service team.
- Maintaining basic inventory of general race service parts.
- Maintaining a clean and organized Parts Office and Warehouse as well as delegating cleaning and organizational responsibilities to other team members.

**Requirements**:

- Experience in the automotive field and an understanding of car parts, fittings and hardware.
- Associates degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in inventory management or a related field.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, inventory systems and organizational concepts.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with procurement and sourcing processes and concepts.

Pay: $21.00 - $29.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
