**Duties**:
- You will integrate, validate, maintain, and improve regional environmental numerical modeling systems that integrate atmosphere, ocean, and wave data using skills and experience in computer programming, data analysis, and environmental science.
- You will utilize common software configuration management tools (e.g. GitHub, subversion) to document modeling changes to ensure that they are transparent, reversible, and replicable.
- You will maintain close communications with research and development partners for assigned tasks and respond to inquiries from command stakeholders regarding environmental numerical modeling services.

**Qualifications**:
**GS-12**:
- In addition to the Basic Education Requirements **(SEE EDUCATION SECTION)**, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- **Experience performing conventional meteorological and/or oceanographic (METOC) in situ observing platforms and algorithms used to produce environmental estimates and derived METOC products; Experience operating METOC satellites, their sensors, the algorithms used to produce environmental estimates, and the METOC products derived from satellite data; AND**:
- **Experience in public speaking and technical writing; and environmental processes relevant to military missions.**

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
- **Experience practicing statistical methods and standard techniques for post-processing and evaluating atmospheric, oceanographic, and/or wave model numerical analysis and forecast products.**
- **Experience utilizing advanced programming language such as FORTRAN, C, PERL, or Python, an advanced operating system such as UNIX or LINUX, software configuration management, and visualization of large scientific data sets.**:
- **Experience utilizing software engineering techniques as applied to the development and maintenance of automated, real-time systems.**
**Experience in public speaking and technical writing; and environmental processes relevant to military missions.**
