Director of Professional Development and Quality

The Director of Professional Development is a member of Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier’s management team and has responsibility for supporting staff stability, success and growth in two primary ways: 1) building a three-pronged professional development program designed to create a culture that retains and supports talented staff through a robust onboarding experience, milestones, and implementation; and 2) confront and reduce barriers to professional advancement.
**Responsibilities**:
- Oversee Professional Development and Training through Boys & Girls Clubs of America
- Analyze and anticipate organizational and programmatic needs to develop and run regular staff trainings and workshops.
- Incorporate best practices from the field of youth development and trauma informed practice.
- Design, maintain, oversee and evaluate an annual professional development program initiative and budget for training opportunities for BGCL staff.
- Facilitate trainings, design workshops, and outsource to external trainers as appropriate.
- Ensure that BGCL’s core values (ICARE) and mission are woven into trainings.
- Coach supervisors through their oversight of supervisees’ professional goal-setting and benchmarking.
- Work with Club leaders to ensure compliance with any funding requirements around training.
- Recruit, liaise with and coach mentors (internal and external)
- Design, coordinate, and deliver monthly workshop for staff
- Develop relationships with local, county-wide, and national industry leaders to develop capacity building partnerships.
- Develop, refine and implement training curriculum, including guest speakers
- Recruit, liaise with, and support mentors (external)
- Establish measurement mechanisms to evaluate the effectiveness of all professional development efforts.
- Performs other related duties and responsibilities as required or as assigned.
**What We’re Looking For**:
BGCL is looking for a leader with excellent communications and problem-solving skills. The Director of Professional Development has a track record of creating professional development programs that build capacity and foster a learning environment that is grounded in youth and community development priorities. This person has implemented practices that attract and support talented staff and build a culture of growth, in particular among local resources that are often historically underrepresented in positions of leadership.
- At least 3-5 years of experience adeptly designing and facilitating workshops and groups that respond to evolving staff needs.
- Boys & Girls Clubs experience
- National Tier 2 trainer through BGCA
- Ability to work independently and within multi-disciplinary teams
- Weikart trained in the YOUTH PROGRAM QUALITY ASSESSMENT
- Methods trained
- Trained in continuous quality improvement through BGCA.
**ENVIRONMENT & WORKING CONDITIONS**:
Normal internal office environment with frequent travel to Clubs. Weekend and evening work to support organization’s fundraising events, committee meetings, special events, and activities. Frequent internal contact with employees throughout the organization is required. Physical requirements include walking, climbing stairs, and sitting for four plus hours per day. Light work, exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
