Department Summary: The UCLA Department of Psychology is an exceptional department known for its excellence in research, teaching, and service. With a distinguished faculty comprising more than 60 ladder rank members, it is one of the nation's top psychology departments. Its undergraduate program is the largest within the Division of Life Sciences and the UCLA College, with more than 4,700 undergraduate students enrolled across three majors: Psychology, Psychobiology, and Cognitive Science. The department also offers a comprehensive Ph.D. program with eight areas of study to approximately 200 enrolled graduate students. Position Summary:
Seeking a self-motivated, reliable, organized, and detail-oriented individual to serve as a full-time Research Assistant who will facilitate the collection of neuroimaging and biospecimen data of youth for multiple studies in Dr. Tiffany Ho’s laboratory in the Department of Psychology at UCLA. Dr. Ho’s research examines how experiences of stress impact inflammatory signaling and brain metabolism and morphometry in adolescents who experience a range of depressive symptoms. The lab leverages multimodal MRI-based approaches, blood-based immune markers, passive sensing data via smartphone apps, computerized cognitive tasks, and behavioral methods to address these questions and provides a rich training environment for aspiring clinical, developmental, and/or affective psychologists or neuroscientists. Under the supervision of Dr. Ho, the individual in this position will be responsible for acquiring functional MRI data, collecting biospecimen samples, collecting data from wearables, editing and executing scripts for facilitating MRI analyses, managing and organizing relevant databases for internal reports and funding agencies, documenting laboratory procedures, and assisting with training new lab members on lab procedures.

- At least one year of experience working or volunteering in research lab settings. (required)
- Working knowledge of MATLAB, R, Python, and/or bash. (required)
- Experience collecting biospecimen sample(s). (preferred)
- Experience collecting neuroimaging data (e.g., EEG, MRI). (preferred)
- Experience working with wearable devices (e.g., actigraphy). (preferred)
- Strong organizational skills and self-motivation. (required)
- Multitasking skills, i.e., independently prioritizing assignments to complete work in a timely fashion and demonstrating flexibility in responding to changing needs and resolving issues. (required)
- Skill in working both independently and collaboratively in a face-paced environment, as well as work as part of a team. (required)
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing, including proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation. (required)
- Knowledge of forms and submission procedures to obtain research approval from, and comply with the requirements of, the UCLA Institutional Review Board and Office for the Protection of Human Subjects. (preferred)

Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations:

- Bachelor's Degree in neuroscience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
