Chef

Seeking a part-time cook to plan and prepare a weekly meal at Shelter Care's Jubilee Center, a non-profit daytime drop-in center in downtown Rockford. This is a job for a creative chef. Meals are prepared with a variety of donated produce and food bank provisions. You never know what you might get to prepare and serve The busiest day by far at the Jubilee Center is the day a "home-cooked" meal is prepared, so this is an incredibly important job.

Prepare meals by chopping, peeling, and cutting ingredients
- Follow recipes and portion controls to ensure consistency and quality
- Help with menu planning and suggest new dishes or improvements to existing ones
- Collaborate with Jubilee Center staff to ensure smooth operations
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Adhere to all food safety and sanitation guidelines

'''Requirements'''
- Previous experience working and cooking in a restaurant or culinary setting is preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately
- Food sanitation certifiate required or within 1 month of hire
- Flexibility to work various days
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Experience in the dietary department, food service, catering, or meal preparation is a plus.
