Ministry Purpose:
The Director of Children’s Ministry (DCM), in partnership with the BCWC congregation, will lead and coordinate a ministry for children (preschool through elementary) and their families so that children discover their identity as one who is loved by God and learn to share God’s love with the people in their young lives.

Ministry Scope:
1. Program Development

a. Establish with the Board of Christian Education and pastors the vision, purpose and goals for all Children’s Ministries consistent with overall BCWC mission and vision.

b. Oversee and coordinate the Kids for Christ (age 3 years - 5th grade) Sunday Morning Worship Experience.

d. Present children’s message twice a month.

e. Support and encourage the efforts of families to raise their children in Christian faith.

f. Encourage the children to serve in the life of BCWC.

g. Coordinate with the praise band director and pastors the Family Christmas Eve Service.

h. Participate in the planning/facilitating of summer program(s).

i. Coordinate a quarterly community “outreach” program for children / families.

2. Personnel / Training

a. Ensure knowledge of and adherence to BCWC’s Protection Policy by all Children Ministry Volunteers. Work with BCWC Administrative Assistant to coordinate volunteer clearances.

b. Obtain, coordinate, and communicate with volunteers and youth helpers for all children’s ministries.

3. Administration

a. Partner with the CE board on annual budget allocations for Children’s Ministries; review and manage line items throughout the year.

b. Choose and maintain adequate curricula, supplies and other materials needed to support all Children’s Ministry programs.

c. Oversee upkeep of pre-school and KFC rooms in coordination with Board of Christian Education.

Ministry Qualifications:
1. Education & Experience: Experience working with children and their families and organizing volunteers in Christian ministry preferred; related college study of benefit.

2. Competencies & Expectations: The DCM must have a strong personal faith in Jesus Christ, agree with the mission and core values of BCWC, seeking to live as a disciple of Jesus Christ; have a passion for ministry to children and families; possess strong interpersonal skills and relate well with children, families, volunteers, and paid staff; be a team player and a leader; be a good organizer and effective in delegating tasks to volunteers; be a good manager and steward of the financial resources of the Children’s Ministries program, seek continued personal and professional growth; and have knowledge of American Baptist Church Life / Theology or be willing to develop said knowledge.

Resources & Training Provided:
Ongoing continuing education opportunities and annual Safety & Abuse prevention training.

Performance Review:
Performance reviews will be given annually. These reviews will be conducted by the Senior Pastor in coordination with the SRC and CE Board.

Vacation & Sick Time:
4 weeks (Sundays) paid & an optional 3 weeks (Sundays) unpaid. Unpaid weeks are extrapolated and deducted from regular payroll over the course of the year.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $7,300.00 - $7,800.00 per year

Expected hours: 10 per week
