**What is a Director of Training and Staff** **Development?**

The Director of Training and Staff Development is an employee-focused position responsible for ensuring that all 211 staff receive effective and efficient training and leadership development to deliver excellent customer service and strengthen leader development. This position will plan, develop, and implement the overall training and leadership development strategy at 211. This role fosters employee growth, enhances skills, and aligns training programs with organizational goals. This position will support the Staff Development Training Manager and Training Team as they develop, deliver, and maintain all learning materials for on-the-job/just-in-time training and learning modules. The Director will partner with department leaders and executives to determine training objectives and guide trainers and staff.

**Implementing Training Strategy Effectively for Maximum Results**
- Design, develop, and implement training and staff leadership development programs that align with 211’s organizational goals and objectives.
- Conduct training needs assessments to identify employee knowledge, competency, and skills gaps.
- Leverage vital external partnerships to build timely, evidence-based training content.
- Develop and implement training and staff leadership development policies and procedures to ensure accountability, consistency, and accuracy of training and staff leadership development.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments as needed.
- Collaborate with department leaders to determine training objectives for each department.
- Experience with and knowledge of training e-learning management systems (LMS).
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to training and staff leadership development.
- Stay aware of new developments and trends in the training and leadership development field.
- Provide hands-on guidance and instruction to trainers on best practices for delivering effective training.
- Manage the training budget and ensure resources are used efficiently and effectively.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Leader and Staff Performance Expectations**
- Fully understand 211 San Diego’s desired performance objectives for the team and individual, and communicate those expectations to staff.
- Monitor individual staff performance KPIs on a regular, ongoing basis to ensure staff are meeting their goals. Recognize and reward staff who exceed their goals and KPIs, and follow the coaching and escalation protocols when staff fail to meet their objectives.
- Partner with department leaders across the agency to develop ongoing training plans.
- Partner with department leaders to develop and implement training programs for various audiences.
- Develop training strategies and implementation for a hybrid workforce.
- Utilize instructional design methodologies to design and develop training programs.
- Review employee timecards and time off requests each pay period and approve them before the payroll due date. Address any attendance or punctuality concerns promptly, appropriately documenting conversations and including Human Resources as necessary.
- Meet with staff individually at least monthly to provide coaching and mentoring in a way that continuously improves individual employee performance and focuses on success, empowering and motivating employees to meet their performance goals.
- Recognize and reward staff who exceed their goals and follow coaching and escalation protocols when staff fail to meet their objectives.
- Complete performance reviews of staff in the timeframe designated by Human Resources.

**Requirements**:

- Qualifications_
- Master’s Degree preferred; or a combination of directly related college course work and experience, or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in a full-time training and/or leadership development role involved with a variety of training development and facilitation, including facilitation of synchronous and asynchronous virtual learning.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and leading high-performing training teams.
- Experience designing blended curriculum, preferably onboarding-focused.
- A proven track record of developing and facilitating successful training and leadership development programs.
